Through selected substantive legal topics, the course provides an overview of the current methods of governance in the People’s Republic of China with an emphasis on Chinese law and legal institutions and their mutual interaction with China's parallel political governance system.

Selected topics covered include: The Party-state's institutional construct; China’s engagement with international law; corporations and foreign investments laws; criminal law and criminal procedure; constitutionalism and human rights; cyber security and privacy protectionl; the legal status of Hong Kong SAR
